Case Study #3
Ideal Protein" Your Last Diet
I do not consider Ideal Protein a diet so much as it is a perfect eating plan for life.
Like many, I was pretty much able to eat what I wanted within reason through my early 40's. Menopause, poor diet and medications put me from a thin 120 lbs to almost a size 14 at 175 lbs. Over a few years I was able to get between 155-160lbs but not below.
Yes, I looked at those diets where you buy their food and heat it up. Buy their frozen meals and add a salad. They just did not appeal to me nor did I want the hassle of them. Particularly since they pretty much focused on low calorie portion control while still having sudo fatty foods and sweets.
I knew I would need to completely eliminate fries, cheeseburgers, ice cream, etc., to really make that difference I needed. Surprisingly I have not missed these foods. I truly NEVER thought I would ever say that. I could down a 1/2 gallon of ice cream in a weekend. Do a large fry in a second and always have fries with my fried fish sandwich.
When I met with Erin and made that first weigh-in, measuring and purchase of food I began immediately that evening. It was cute how Erin emailed a few days later to see how I was doing and if I had started on the diet yet. I was already 4 days in :)
I would say to give yourself some time at the beginning of each week to get your diary set up, plan your shopping list, lay out your vitamins (get a little box from the pharmacy) and assign your snacks. This then makes preparing your salad fixings easy all week long.
Here is the simple part...you have three Ideal Protein snacks a day...one large salad with your two cups of approved veggies...one large salad with your two cups of approved veggies and a serving of lean protein. That's it...all done...no weighing, counting points or eating pre-frozen food.. Get it? Two big salads, 4 cups of approved veggies, 1 serving lean protein and the rest is done for you. Nothing "fake".
Eating out? Never thought it would be so easy and delicious to go with roasted veggies, salad and lean protein...where's the bread, potato, rice, dessert? Don't miss them..reallyI Will I never eat these food again..of course not, but it is such a huge treat that I only select really good qualities of these foods in which to indulge.
Now, I was a die hard, addicted carb-sweet over eater. It took me about three weeks to adjust to the program. Since then I feel great. Erin will work with you every step of the way as your body transitions out of its poor food cravings.
Do I feel stuck to this "diet" for the rest of my life? No...I look forward to this way of eating for the rest of my life.
Big bonus!!! I really have lost most of those bumps and dimples...I have had celulite since my early 20's. I may have been thin but I ate plenty of fatty foods. The low fat/fat eating properties of this diet have given me smoother skin.
Important, get your vitamins, olive oil and sea salt. And a bonus with this....I don't have the puffy eyes and swollen fingers we get from traditional salt.
Will you love all of the foods...definately not...but I have found that there is plenty of variety to keep my taste-buds completely satisfied.
Hey, and just to be straight...I am a non-compensated spokesperson! :)
